TEMA2

Level 2 Materials Technology

Course Description

This technology course requires learners to show evidence of design, craftsmanship, and investigations. The course will consist of Level 2 Engineering and Building, Construction ITO Unit Standards. This course is designed to suit learners following a Vocational pathway. This is a strong recommendation for those choosing to apply for employment. The course will suit learners who want to develop practical hands-on skills in the engineering, building and construction fields. The development of creative designs, and working with a variety of materials helps to prepare learners to be self-reliant and capable in a workshop environment. The project themes will encourage learners to make decisions, solve problems, clearly analyse solutions, and to criticise their own work. This course will include a series of written theory workbooks that support the practical skills being taught.

Recommended Prior Learning

Open Entry but Level 1 is a distinct advantage.

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

The cost of materials for the projects at Level 2 is $70. If there is time at the end of the course to embark on an extra project then the cost of those materials will be charged separately. A strong emphasis is placed on the use of recycling materials, and the use of native timber where possible – all materials have to be paid for.
